From sink cutouts to cooktop openings, we modify your granite, quartz, or marble safely and affordably—keeping your kitchen functional and beautiful.
Countertop modifications are a smart, targeted solution when you want to adapt your existing granite, quartz, or marble surfaces to better fit your current needs—without the expense and disruption of a full replacement. These on-site or precise adjustments allow professionals to alter cutouts, resize sections, or reshape edges to accommodate new appliances, fixtures, or design preferences while preserving your original stone investment.
Upgrading appliances — When installing a larger sink, new cooktop, downdraft vent, or slide-in range that doesn't fit the existing cutout; enlarging or reshaping openings ensures a perfect, seamless fit.
Remodeling or updating your layout — During a kitchen refresh, adding an island, changing cabinet configurations, or transitioning to open-concept designs that require expanding, reducing, or repositioning countertop sections.
Replacing fixtures — If you're swapping out an old sink, faucet setup, or cooktop and the current openings no longer match the new dimensions.
Before major home improvements — When planning to sell your home or refresh the space for better functionality and resale value—modifications can modernize the look affordably.
After noticing limitations — If your countertops restrict your lifestyle changes, like needing more prep space for cooking or accommodating family growth.
Modifications are typically quicker and less invasive than replacement, often completed in your home with minimal dust control, and they help avoid waste while delivering custom results.

At SJL Rock Solid Solutions, we specialize in safe, on-site adjustments that preserve your original stone while delivering practical upgrades.
Significant Cost Savings — Modifications are typically much less expensive than buying and installing entirely new countertops, often saving you thousands by reusing your high-quality existing material.
Perfect Fit for Upgrades — Easily accommodate larger sinks, new cooktops, downdraft vents, or appliances that don't match current cutouts—ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
Minimal Disruption — Performed directly in your home with professional tools and dust control, usually completed in a day or less, without removing cabinets, plumbing, or major demolition.
Preserves Your Investment — Keeps your structurally sound countertops in place, avoiding waste and the environmental impact of discarding reusable stone.
Customized Functionality — Expand prep space, reposition sections, or reshape edges to better suit your lifestyle, remodeling goals, or family needs—enhancing usability without a full overhaul.
Maintains Aesthetic Continuity — Adjustments blend seamlessly with your existing stone, maintaining color, pattern, and overall look while modernizing the space.
Increases Home Value — Updates outdated or limiting features affordably, making your kitchen or bathroom more appealing for daily use or future resale.
Countertop modifications are a practical choice when your existing granite, quartz, or marble countertops are in good structural condition but no longer align with your current appliances, layout, or lifestyle needs. These precise adjustments—such as enlarging cutouts, reshaping edges, or resizing sections—allow you to update functionality on-site without replacing the entire surface.
Installing or upgrading appliances — When a new sink, cooktop, range, downdraft vent, or faucet requires a larger or differently shaped opening that doesn't match the current cutout.
Kitchen or bathroom remodeling — During layout changes, adding an island, reconfiguring cabinets, or shifting to a more open design that needs expanded or repositioned countertop areas.
Replacing fixtures — If you're updating to a different sink style (e.g., farmhouse to undermount) or appliance size where the existing holes won't accommodate the new dimensions.
Enhancing usability — When you need more prep space, better workflow, or custom edge profiles to improve safety, aesthetics, or family needs.
Preparing to sell your home — To modernize outdated features affordably, boost appeal, and increase perceived value without a full renovation.
After noticing restrictions — If your current countertop setup limits daily activities, appliance options, or design vision due to fixed cutouts or sizing.
Modifications are typically performed professionally in your home with controlled dust, often in a single visit, preserving your original stone's color, pattern, and quality.

Quartz & Granite Countertop Care and Maintenance Guide
Quartz:
Use a mild dish soap and warm water with a soft cloth or sponge. Avoid abrasive pads and harsh cleaners.
Granite:
Clean with a pH-balanced stone cleaner or mild dish soap. Wipe with a soft cloth to prevent streaking.
Quartz:
No sealing is necessary. Quartz is non-porous and engineered to resist staining and bacteria.
Granite:
Granite is porous and should be sealed every 1–2 years. Test it by sprinkling water—if it darkens, it’s time to reseal.
Clean spills promptly, especially acidic or oily liquids like wine, vinegar, coffee, lemon juice, and cooking oil.
Do not allow water to sit for extended periods—especially on granite.
Always use trivets or hot pads under cookware, crockpots, or hot trays.
Sudden temperature changes can cause cracking (especially in quartz).
Always use a cutting board. Quartz and granite can scratch or dull your knives. Don’t drag pots or appliances across the countertop.
Bleach, ammonia, or acidic cleaners. Oven cleaners or paint removers. Scouring pads or steel wool
Don't stand or sit on the countertop or use the surface as a workbench or for heavy impact tasks
Use coasters for glasses—especially those containing alcohol or citrus.
Monthly deep cleaning: Use a stone-safe cleaner or a 50/50 mix of isopropyl alcohol and water.
For stuck-on materials: Use a plastic putty knife to gently remove without scratching.
Your countertops are an investment—let’s help you protect them for years to come.
